Janet Napolitano plans to step down as President of UC. In accordance with the Regents’ Policy 7101, the Academic Senates of each UC campus are charged with gathering information about each campus’s concerns, priorities, and recommendations and communicating this information to the Regents. At Berkeley, we’re holding a Town Hall for public discussion of the qualifications we think the search committee should consider in seeking and evaluating candidates. It will take place on November 13, 6-8p.m. in Barrows 402.
The Town Hall will begin with a short introduction by Christopher Newfield (UCSB) on the challenges facing public universities, followed by short proposals or comments from representatives of the sponsoring organizations – BFA, Latinx Faculty Association, UC-AFT (Lecturers and Librarians) and the Academic Senate.
The BFA has presented its thoughts here.
