INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING THE BFA WEBSITE
The site has five fixed pages, listed across the banner, with buttons to go to each page: Home, About BFA, Contact & Join. These should be self-explanatory.
Only the Web Administrators (Dick Walker and Sara Smith) can change the fixed pages. If you have suggestions for changes to these, please email walker@berkeley.edu or ssmith@aaup.org)
There are four other categories across the banner: Events/Calendar, Blog Entries, Archives and Links. These need more explanation.
Events/Calendar is a page, if you click on the banner button, but it also appears in the right-hand column. Events can only be entered through Google Calendar. You need a password to access that function (at www.google.com – pull down and click ”Calendar”). All Board Members should have that password. Otherwise, send notices of Events to walker@berkeley.edu or alert one of the officers.
Blog Entries are ordinary pages, if you click on the banner buttons, but they also appear in the right-hand Column — with the last five entries featured. As new items are posted, older ones go off the list of five entries on the right.
There are two kinds of Blog Entries: Recent News and Comments /Discussion). Only Board Members or other authorized members can add these items, while all BFA members can make comments on existing items. To request authorization, email walker@berkeley.edu.
The Archives page automatically stores all past Blog Entries monthly.
Links is NOT a page but an expanding list in the Right Column and a pull-down menu when you click on that banner button. Only site Admistrators can add Links. If you have suggestions for Links, please send them to walker@berkeley.edu
Anyone can register and make comments on existing entries. (New member accounts do not have to be approved each time).
You have to register to join the discussion (i.e., make ‘comments’).
To register, click on the “Register” button, bottom right corner under “Meta”, and follow directions. You will receive a password by email (which you can change later).
